My name is Karie Naquin, and I am the lead singer and manager of Jugglehammer. My band members are wonderful and talented, but they are all scientists and engineers and do not want to gig as much as I do, so I have to come up with other amusements to keep me off the streets.
I host a monthly 12 Bar Blues Jam House Concert in my residence in Bethesda, MD. What's great about it is that it is on a Friday night. Musicians like to play music on Friday nights, but we don't always have the Friday night gig going on, so we get together and make magic. It's totally free....no money changes hands. Everyone brings their own libation and a bag of chips or something to share, and we rock the rehearsal space.
All musicians are invited, as long as they are 21+. Amateurs and professional musicians attend, and no preference is given to professional musicians. Whoever gets there first gets to sign up for a set or a song. It is formatted along the lines of the very cool Thursday night Blues Jams at The Braddock Inn in Frederick, MD, except that you can hang out and drink water all night at my house. You can't do that (well, you could try) in a restaurant or bar.
